The MQ-8 Hydrogen Gas Sensor is a semiconductor-type gas sensor designed for detecting hydrogen (H₂) concentrations in air. It is widely used in industrial safety systems, portable gas detectors, hydrogen leak alarms, and embedded monitoring applications.

The MQ-8 operates using a tin dioxide (SnO₂) sensitive layer whose conductivity changes when exposed to hydrogen gas. This change in resistance allows accurate detection of hydrogen within a specified ppm range. The sensor provides fast response, high sensitivity, and simple circuit integration, making it suitable for OEM manufacturers and electronic developers.
